Local people and visitors are being invited to have their say on one of Grantham’s finest community green spaces, Wyndham Park.

A consultation opens today (16th October) and will run until 13th November.

Feedback will help SKDC measure what people think of the park, identify how they find out about events and establish what type of events they would like to see in the future.

Improvements this year have included setting aside an area next to the historic archway entrance as a location for re-wilding. Focusing on poppies, the area and type of flower have been chosen to reflect historic ties to the Armed Forces and Remembrance.

Contributions and donations from voluntary organisations alongside Council funding have enabled enhancements over the years, including an outdoor gym, outdoor table tennis tables, pay-per-play model boats and an extension to the car park.

Wyndham Park enjoys World War One Memorial Park status.  A grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund refurbished the Memorial Arch, Memorial Shelter and old Ticket Office with a new Visitor Centre created.

Cllr Paul Stokes, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, said: “Wyndham Park is one of our biggest success stories with around one million visitors every year.

“It’s been awarded Green Flag excellence status for thirteen years in a row and continues to be a wonderful green space with something for everyone.

“We are proud of the range of activities and opportunities it provides and are keen to ensure it remains a constant in peoples’ affections and a park enjoyed by all.

“Tell us what you think of Wyndham Park, how you find out what’s happening there and the events and activities you would like to see going forward.”
